News From The Region:

On July 14th, the Ohio Department of Education recognized the 2023 Business-Education Leader Awards for Excellent Business Advisory Councils with banners. Several of the Southeastern region’s Business Advisory Councils were recognized. Congratulations to everyone!

The Region 5 OCTA Summer Meeting was held at Collins Career Center on June 27th, 2023. A huge thank you goes out to Collin’s Career Center for hosting a wonderful meeting and showing off the outstanding programs they offer!

News From the Department (ODE):

The Office of Career-Technical Education has opened an additional CTE-26 provider application period for Industry Credential Only programs from July 1, 2023, through August 15, 2023. The purpose of this additional window is to allow districts and schools the opportunity to seek approval from the Office of Career-Technical Education for new Industry Credential Only programs.

Please begin checking for industry credential-only program applications.  As a reminder, these programs should focus on one career field or cluster (such as business, marketing, and finance) and lead to 12 points of industry credentials.

The Office of CTE is excited to be introducing the Ohio In-Demand Jobs and CTE Pathways Alignment Map tool. This GIS map summarizes data from the Office of CTE and labor market data from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).

Users can navigate the map to visualize in-demand and critical jobs in Ohio (statewide, by region of the state, and by county) and locations that offer programming for state approved CTE pathways.

The Find Your Career Pathway” video and toolkit aim to guide students in their educational journey to land a successful career in Ohio. Ohio is prioritizing opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized credentials that can fuel their success after high school. Industry partners play an integral role in how the list is formed and validated to ensure students are earning credentials that Ohio’s industries value.
The Department requests that educators share this brief survey with business and industry partners to gather feedback that is used to determine which credentials are valuable in their respective industries.
Business and industry representatives can share their feedback in the industry-recognized credential feedback survey.
Direct questions to IndustryCredentials@education.ohio.gov.

The Department is actively collecting information on how educators across Ohio use the tools and resources on the OhioMeansJobs.com K-12 website. By participating in this 5–10-minute survey, educators will directly contribute to the future development of the OhioMeansJobs.com K-12 website.
